Park Teens Achieve Worldwide Recognition
Teenagers from Stanborough Park Church have featured in a photograph in the January 2016 edition of 'Adventist World', a denominational periodical which is distributed to church members worldwide.
The girls, clad in saris, were pictured taking a break during a fundraising event in the church hall in 2015 for 'STOP International', a Charity Commission recognised voluntary organisation founded by church member, Kish Poddar, which supports orphans in India. Showing their willingness to help those less fortunate than themselves they had dressed in local costume to add some authenticity to their role as servers during the banquet that preceded an auction.
Recognising that the ambiguities contained in the photo would not immediately identify its location it was submitted to the U.S.-based publication for possible inclusion in the 'Where in the World?' slot where readers are playfully asked to guess the location of a puzzling shot of Adventists around the world - with the answer concealed on the same page.
The photo was submitted to 'Adventist World' in February 2015. The full story can be found on 'The Watford Observer' web site.
It is not the first time the church has appeared in this slot. Some years ago Neilson Roberts was featured checking preparations for the weekly Soup Run.
