Concert brings 200 people to Stanborough Church

Posted on 22 March, 2018

On Saturday the 10th of March, the 8th Children’s Concert in aid of ADRA (Adventist Development and Relief Agency) took place at Stanborough Park Church. The event brought together around 200 people to appreciate the performances of more than 40 children. The performers were between the age of 5 and 19 years old, and came from different backgrounds: Muslim, Hindu, Christian and non-Christian. Some of them have grown up with the Children's Concert in Aid of ADRA, as it is has been taking place for several years. During the event, £2,136 was raised for ADRA.

The concert was organised and sponsored by Stanborough Park College of Music. Jieun Ahn, the person in charge, was pleased with the outcome. “All of them put a lot of hard work to prepare for the concert,” she said. “What impressed me the most was that, normally, in such events, children tend to compete against each other. However, I didn’t feel anything like that. They were only encouraging and cheering each other, whether they played well or not.”

Ana Brugos, mother of two of the children performing that night, described the benefits of music for her kids. “They look forward to the practices and I hardly have to push them to study at home. They enjoy it and it also helps them academically. When they learn music, they are not only learning the techniques, but their teachers also put emphasis on the spiritual aspect of playing, reminding them that it is God who gives talents and we should use them to bless others.”

The 9th Children’s Concert in aid of ADRA will be on the 9th of March of 2019. Children, start planning and working for it from now! But if you appreciate good music, you don’t have to wait for so long. There are concerts happening every month throughout the year at Stanborough Park Church. Don’t miss the next one: Teatime Concert with the Vario Duo (saxophone and piano), on the 25th of March, at 3pm.
